Jenos Guide: The Healer Who Ignores Walls
Jenos, The Ascended — a Tau-Kor monk who touched the cosmos and came back a god — is the only support in Paladins that needs no line of sight to do his job. Astral Mark passes through every obstacle on the map: the flank diving behind their backline stays on your heal, the tank behind the shield stays on your heal, and nobody has to peek anything.
He is also freshly relevant. Patch 7.5 (September 2024) buffed Astral Mark to 13 seconds of duration on a 5-second cooldown — 3260 healing per application — with a developer note that said the quiet part out loud: Jenos had been lagging behind other supports. The wiki’s own champion changelog missed the patch; the numbers below come from the patch notes themselves.
And his ranked data holds a curiosity no other champion in this series has matched: all three talents win — 53.2%, 53.0%, and 52.8% — including the infamous “battle Jenos” meme pick. The loadout table is where the real gap hides.
An automatic cosmic carbine — ~885 DPS from a 30-round magazine, fully effective to 100 units. Real pressure for a healer, and the reason “battle Jenos” refuses to die as a concept.
A celestial blessing applied through all obstacles: 400 up front plus 220 per second for 13 seconds, at 120 units of range. Buffed in patch 7.5 (September 2024) from 12s/6s — the devs said it outright: he had been lagging behind other supports.
Channel gravity to lift an enemy helplessly into the air at up to 70 units, briefly Crippling them. You cannot shoot while channeling — this is a setup button: hold the flank in the sky while your team deletes them.
Lower your weapon and glide: 65% faster movement, boosted jump height, and a floaty descent. His only mobility — and it offers zero protection, because firing or reloading cancels it instantly.
Lock in place, charge for 1.2s with CC immunity, then fire a beam that pierces all obstacles and enemies across the map for 2650 — Revealing everyone it touches. The only ultimate in the game that cover cannot answer.
Re-applying Astral Mark to an already-marked ally heals them for an additional 285 on the spot. The community favorite at 72% pick rate — and at a 53.2% winrate, this is the rare case where the popular choice is also the right one.
The highest-winrate Jenos loadout in recorded ranked matches (58.7%): every mark now grants a shield and a speed boost on top of 3260 healing. The popular Void Grip cycling build sits ten points lower — utility per mark beats damage on this champion.
- Keep two or three allies marked permanently — 13s duration against a 5s cooldown means the HoT should never fall off your frontline.
- Burst-heal by re-marking: the +285 tops up a diving flank the moment they commit, through the wall they dove behind.
- Heal from cover. You have no escape, so the wall between you and their hitscan is your health bar.
- Void Grip is your peel: lift the diver off your Damage player and let the team finish the job.
Void Grip Cripples for its full duration and deals an additional 480 damage — 880 total per grip. A kill-setup talent at a 53% winrate: the lift becomes a death sentence for any flank you catch.
The most-played Jenos loadout in ranked — with an honest caveat: it wins 48.9% of its matches, well under the mark-utility builds. If you commit to it, Falling Star is the engine: a confirmed grip kill hands back every cooldown, including the next grip.
- Call the grip before you press it — 880 damage and a full-duration Cripple only matter if your team shoots the target in the sky.
- Lift divers mid-dash: Void Grip reads as a peel, but with this talent it is an execution setup.
- You are defenseless while channeling — grip from behind your frontline, never from an open flank.
- A confirmed kill resets everything via Falling Star: chain grip, mark, grip in one fight.
Star Splitter fires 380-damage bolts every 0.4s from a 15-round magazine — burst DPS up from ~885 to 950. The famous “battle Jenos” meme talent, except the data refuses to play along: 52.8% winrate on its 8% of picks.
The recorded ranked “battle Jenos” build: lifesteal turns the 380-damage bolts into self-healing, and Stellar Wind refills the 15-round magazine mid-glide. Fair warning — this loadout winrate (46.3%) trails the talent itself; you still have to mark your team.
- You are still the healer — Astral Mark on cooldown first, gunfights second. The talent fails when the order flips.
- Two bolts plus a headshot kill most flanks: 380 × 2 + 570 is real burst from a “support”.
- Glide constantly: Solar Sails reloads for free and the jump height makes you miserable to hit.
- Pick it into dive comps that will hunt you anyway — if you must duel, duel with 950 DPS.
Jenos has the least self-protection of any support: no escape, no immunity, and a glide that cancels the moment he defends himself. Void Grip is a channel that leaves him defenseless mid-cast, and his healing lives on a 120-unit leash. Dive the monk, interrupt the grip, and the whole team loses its through-wall safety net. // COMMUNITY RESOURCES
Is Jenos good in 2026?
A-tier, score 0.60 in our community-consensus tier list, with a beginner-friendly flag — “heals through walls, zero aim needed for value”. He closes out the top 10 by pick rate, and he is the first Support in our champion guide series: unlike Seris, whose comfort-pick popularity outruns her C-tier results, Jenos earns his slot on the strength of the kit.
The post-buff numbers are genuinely strong: a mark every 3.5 seconds with Chronos — which 84% of ranked Jenos players buy, the highest item rate we have recorded — keeps two to three allies in permanent healing. His ceiling play is the ultimate: 2650 damage through every wall on the map, with a Reveal attached. The only counterplay to it is not standing where a god is looking, and he is always looking.
How do you counter Jenos?
Dive him. Jenos has the least self-protection of any support in the game: no escape, no immunity, and a glide that cancels itself the instant he fires back. Zhin is his hardest counter by a massive vote margin (+91) — Billow ignores Void Grip entirely, and the healer with no exit is exactly the target Zhin exists to delete. Cassie and Drogoz follow: one interrupts his channels, the other fights above his 70-unit grip range.
The subtler answer is discipline about the lift. Void Grip is a channel — while Jenos holds a target in the sky, he cannot shoot, move-cancel, or defend himself. Burst the monk, not the victim, and the setup collapses. Just respect the ultimate: the 1.2-second wind-up is CC-immune, so once the beam starts charging, your only move is to not be in a line with anyone else.
FAQ
What is the best Jenos talent?
Luminary — 53.2% winrate on 72% pick rate, the rare case where the popular pick is also the statistical best. Re-marking an ally instantly heals 285, turning the HoT into on-demand burst healing. The bigger edge is the loadout: shield-and-speed mark builds win 55–59% while the popular Void Grip cycling build sits under 49%.
Does Jenos heal through walls?
Yes — Astral Mark applies through all obstacles at up to 120 units, no line of sight required. Since the 7.5 buff it heals 400 instantly plus 220 per second for 13 seconds (3260 total) on a 5-second cooldown, so he can keep multiple allies marked permanently — from complete safety.
Is battle Jenos actually viable?
More than the memes suggest. Binary Star turns his carbine into 380-damage bolts at 950 burst DPS, and it holds a 52.8% ranked winrate — barely behind the healing talents. The catch is the loadout data: dedicated gun builds win only 46%, so even battle Jenos wins by still marking his team first.
